Edinburgh, BALERNO - from the 28th June 2012 for 9 days
"In many Native groups, the vision quest is a turning point in life taken before puberty to find oneself and the intended spiritual and life direction. When an older child is ready, he or she will go on a personal, spiritual quest alone in the wilderness which usually lasts for a number of days while the child is attuned to the spirit world. Usually, a Guardian animal will come in a vision or dream, and the child's life direction will appear at some point. The child returns to the tribe, and once the child has grown, will pursue that direction in life." Wikipedia
Rites of Passage
Vision Quest as a Rite of Passage has been used throughout the world, for thousands of years, as the most direct and powerful way to contact guidance, inspiration, renewal and the sacred view. Our culture does not provide such rich rites of passage, therefore the tendency is to search for it by creating situations in our lives that bring us close to the edge. Nothing can replace the richness of a Vision Quest as a Rite of Passage. At the Shamanic Centre, we have adapted it to our people of today and yet kept its true essence.
"My heart really sings when I work with young people, it is such a joy and honour to support their transition. I feel really honoured to have had this old and sacred way passed down to me and I feel blessed by the Spirits" Claudia Goncalves |
